Clash over field watering turns fatal in Sonbarsa village; 1 dead and three injured

Tragedy struck Sonbarsa village in the Kotwali Dehat police station area on Wednesday as a dispute over watering fields escalated into a violent clash, resulting in the death of Jitendra Yadav (35). The altercation, involving residents Jitendra Yadav, Hridayram, Sant Kumar, and Shanti Devi against Sandeep Verma, Gautam, and Golu from the same village, left three individuals injured during the rescue operation. The police have launched an investigation, detained some suspects, and sent Jitendra Yadav's body for post-mortem.

According to reports, the confrontation erupted while both groups were watering fields on Wednesday morning. Allegedly, a verbal dispute quickly turned physical, leading to Jitendra Yadav and his family being brutally beaten with sticks. Tragically, Jitendra Yadav succumbed to his injuries on the spot, while Hridayram, Sant Kumar, and Shanti Devi sustained serious injuries.

When the local people ran to appeal, the accused fled from the spot. On the information of the villagers, Area Officer Lambhua Abdus Salam, Police Station Head Kotwali Dehat Shyam Sundar reached the spot with the force and sent the injured to the hospital for treatment.

Superintendent of Police Somen Verma said that the body has been sent for post-mortem. Investigation is being done on the basis of the complaint received from the victim's side. Some accused are being detained and interrogated.
